If you have a question for me that you want me to answer on a future tip Tuesday episode or a topic you want me to cover and make sure that I talk about go to intentional edit.com, click on the record.
Now, button that pops up and leave me a message so that I can answer it on a [00:02:00] future tip Tuesday episode. The question that I’ll be answering today says. I want to get organized. I don’t want my house to be so cluttered anymore, but I’m afraid I will try and not be able to do it. Or it will not be what I expect and I won’t get it done or finish. Let’s get into this right now
I totally get the hesitation around jumping into something new. Especially when you are not confident in the skills that you needed to do this new thing, or to start this new project. It’s hard to do something. Now it takes effort and it pushes you out of your comfort zone. That doesn’t feel good. That’s an uncomfortable place to be.
Most people are going to be able to say that. The idea of something like decluttering or getting the house organized an entire home decluttering project seems overwhelming. if that’s you, you don’t know how to do it. You don’t really know where to start what you actually need to do. What the steps are. The idea of being organized and the thoughts of having an organized home, having routines set up.
So the house stays tidy and orderly. That’s an ideal situation, but thinking about. Making the plan and taking the action steps to start. The process can seem really hard. And that’s why so many people tell me that starting is the hardest part. They just don’t know where to start. They want to make these big changes. They want to live with the results, but where do I start?
It’s difficult to make change and a follow through, no matter what the topic is, what the change is, what the end result is when you are doing something different and you have to change the way that you currently do things and you have to make a new habits. That is a hard thing to do. You have to put an effort to get to that end result.
We all go through different things in life. Luckily, we’re all good. At different things, we have [00:04:00] different skills, so we can find resources when we need them. For something that we are not good at those resources will teach us exactly what we need to be successful in the situation where we are trying to do something too.
But if we want to, if we really wanted to make a change that is going to have a life long results that are a positive result, that will do something positive for our family. We have to actually take the punch. We have to take that step, take the plunge and actually do the thing that gets us to that result. Sometimes it’s a couple of things, but we have to.
Decide. Yes, I am going to do this. I am going to take the plunge so that we can do the thing to get to the result, the idea of that end result. It sounds great. It looks great. When we see pictures, when we go to someone else’s house that is similar to that end result that we want, we feel good. We see that.
And we think this is what I want for myself. You know, you need dizzy a clutter and spend time actually doing the organizing. The decluttering comes first, then the organizing and both of those things have to happen to get the results, but something is holding you back. Something is making you feel like you can’t start, or you don’t know where to start. Why, why is this hard when we really want that end result, we really do want this.
This is what we desire. When we are in a place where we don’t take action, we can use that messy house or the unorganized room more than missing item. The item is missing because of the lack of organization or the excuse of the sky. Your mind is so scattered. You have this scattered mind is overwhelmed.
Feeling you’re just going in a million directions. The house is a mess. So you can’t have people over or you can’t do this, or you can’t find something or whatever the excuse is, there’s a million [00:06:00]excuses. You know, doing the thing can change everything and bring improvements and give you that success.
But as long as you aren’t putting in the effort, as long as you haven’t committed to the process and actually taken the steps, doing what it takes to get there. There’s not a possibility that you could fail. There’s not a possibility that it won’t happen. There’s not a possibility that these things won’t work for you.
what am essentially saying here is as long as you haven’t started, as long as you haven’t begun doing the work. You don’t have to worry about not doing it. You don’t have to worry about not finishing. You don’t have to worry about feeling. Not have to worry about messing up or not being successful or being disappointed because you couldn’t follow through, you didn’t follow what you were supposed to do. You don’t have that disappointment. You don’t have the fear of failure. If you never began.
Fear of failure is a very real thing. It happens in all aspects of life. When we are trying to change something, get a new job, make a big change in our lives to get something or to accomplish something. It could be personal. It can be professional, it can be family related. And this happens for. Very young children all the way up through our entire adulthood. Fear of failure is real.
We tend to hold ourselves back by not going all in or not taking that plunge to just begin and do it. Now signing up for the course not signing up for the program, not taking the class, not doing what we need to do to get those results, because we don’t want to feel disappointed. We know that is not a good feeling. We don’t want that. We don’t want to fail. If we never start, we aren’t risking anything.
We are avoiding the possibility of that failure. We’re avoiding that possibility of feeling disappointed. We’re avoiding the possibility of being [00:08:00] labeled a failure. If you tell people you’re going to do something or you’re finally getting at your house organized, you’re finally going to get all the clutter out. You’re finally going to do these things to make your house feel better and look better and function better.
And you’re telling people you’re going to do this. And then your friends have doubts in you. If you don’t do it, the disappointment is real. That failure, that being labeled. As a failure. Does not feel good. It’s not what we want. You know, that getting organized and removing the clutter, implementing the intentional systems and routines that truly simplify those things, have the power to change your life for the better it’s way, bigger than just having a home. That looks good.
It truly simplifies your life and your family. So you have more time to spend doing things you want to be doing. And not feeling like you are always in go, go, go mode and overwhelmed. It has the power to make things easier to. Make little adjustments that will allow you to always have the laundry done folded put away regularly to enforce habits of putting dirty clothes.
In the hamper instead of on the floor next to the hamper are scattered all over, down the hall to hang a towel. Uh, this is so simple. Just hang the towel back up after a bath or shower, instead of leaving it on the bed or again, dropping it on the floor. We’re changing habits. When we remove the clutter, we organize and we implement systems. You know, that these things make it possible to find what you need when you are looking for something.
You’re never going to be wondering where something is because everything in your home has a designated location where it’s stored when it’s not in use the simple act of using something and putting it away when you’re done. All of these things come from. Doing the decluttering, getting organized and putting the good routines in place.
These practices, they help you with so much. They help you to stop waste [00:10:00] food. To have more dinners at the table with your family to give you that time to make dinner to meal plan. To get all of those things done. It gives you the ability to have time to be creative or adventurous, or do things that you have enjoyed.
That you don’t feel like you have the time for right now, instead of constantly running behind, constantly running late, barely fitting things and being frazzled all the time. You are well aware as a podcast listener that you need three things. There are three things, decluttering organizing, and quality routines, and those things do even more than what I’ve just listed. They increase your quality of sleep.
They were juiced this. The amount of time that you are sick, they were due stress and anxiety. They help you save money because you are spending less, they even improve your relationships and overall simplify everything that it takes to run a household and really be the CEO of your family. Putting in the effort has the potential to give you all of that, to change everything for the better and to really improve it.
To improve the situation that you desperately want right now to make easier. The change is going to solve the problems that you have been complaining about, and that have been causing you stress and irritability probably for many, many years. Once you commit. And begin you actually start, you actually get going.
It’s go time. And the chance of failure is a reality. And we go back to this fear of possibly being disappointed, possible failure. But doesn’t a risk seem. Worth it. The reward outweighs those temporary feelings of being disappointed or feeling. I ask you this. What are you really afraid of? What are you worried about happening? If you are successful with this project?
If you actually make it [00:12:00] to that end goal, if you have success. What are you afraid of? What are you worried about? It’s time for you to acknowledge the fear of failure, acknowledge what you’re worried about. Take a deep breath, think about those things. And when you exhale, breathe them out and let them go. Let them go for good release them so that you can move forward.
Put yourself in a position where you can get the results you want. So you aren’t regretting the lack of action a year from now six months from now, five years from now. Start now, even if it takes you a year, start now and keep going, move forward and get these things done. Let’s get you to that place that you desire that home that is organized that room. That is clutter-free.
You know that I offer the simplified home masterclass. And that is the answer to this because it guides you through each step of the process. Are those three things that you need. It takes you through the entire process and it gives you the formula to follow so that you declutter properly. Then you move on to organizing and creating systems and routines for every single room and every part of the day.
If you’re ready, you can easily sign up. All you have to do is go to the link and sign up for the simplified home masterclass. The link is in the podcast description. And get going with that. You can start with the steps the same day that you sign up and it tells you exactly what you need to do.
To get the clutter out of your house to get organized and start implementing those routines in your home. The other option for you, if you don’t feel like you can go all in yet. Join the practical purging guide. That is a 10 day challenge. It’s completely free and it will give you 10 days of short purging projects to complete.
It’s a kick start. It is only a 10 day commitment. And these are short [00:14:00] projects that take you about 15 minutes, maybe 15 to 20 minutes each day. And then you can have success. Everyone can find 15 or 20 minutes in a day. It’s a great way to kickstart the whole house organization and decluttering. It’s not going to get you from a messy, overwhelmed.
Cluttered house that does not have organization, and that does not have good routines in place all the way into that dream home that you see on Instagram. It’s not going to do that, but it is a great place to start this project where you can have success and you can feel this success and you can feel that.
You didn’t fail. You were not a disappointment. Maybe it takes you 12 days. Who cares? But you can do one project each day. There are 10 projects. And in 15 to 20 minutes, you can see clutter, those areas put the things you’re donating and a bag, get them out of your house. And it is a great way to get you going and help you get a little bit of motivation.
And kickstart your entire home decluttering and purging. And organizing projects. So those links are in the podcast description. If you want them pick one of them and go for it. Go all in, forget the fear of failure and get going on something to move you forward to that end goal of a simplified tidy clutter-free organized home. So you aren’t dealing with the regret of not taking action in the future.
