Making a statement like I want to be organized or I wish I had a house that was picked up with less stuff everywhere. That’s one thing. But what about the ideas behind and the desires for you wanting to have a house that stays picked up and that looks better and feels better. And a home that is clutter-free. On this episode, we are digging deep. to find out what are the reasons behind your desires for a home with less clutter
I hear it all the time. Things like I want my house to be organized. We have too much stuff. I know I need to purge. I have to find the time to declutter. There’s never enough time. I really want to get rid of some of this stuff, things like that. Those are common things that I hear or that you comment and you let me know over and over and over again. That desire to declutter [00:02:00] is great. It’s it’s good to have that. And you can use that to get going and start these decluttering projects. We have a seen enough posts on social media. I can say that for sure, with the inspiration and the benefits and the results of What happens when we live with less clutter, not living with too little, but really living with the right amount of belongings for our current homes, our current lifestyles, and to make sure that we have what we need. So our needs are met. The thing is that we want and love are surrounding us. And we have perfect amount of things in our home. That’s the end goal. We want to feel good at our homes. We want our homes to function the main benefit of clutter-free life or glitter, free living, or a home really that just as less clutter. Are the thing is like saving time or not wasting time. When you are in a situation where your home has been decluttered and you have an organized house. We save a significant amount of time because it becomes easy to find what we need. We always know where to get something. We’re not thinking about where that could be or constantly looking for something. That’s also why we save money because we’re not buying duplicates or triplicates, or even more than that.
And constantly stocking up on things that we actually already have. And the other thing is. When things have expiration dates or food going bad, things like that. We oftentimes a buy a new one and then use the new one first. And the other product then expires. We cannot use it. We cannot eat it. And so it’s wasted money. It wasted our time going to get it. It wastes some money and it wastes that resources well, so saving time and saving money. Those are big things. That are benefits when you have a clutter-free home, when you’ve taken the [00:04:00] time to remove the clutter and get rid of the excess and all the extras. Now, of course, being able to find things when you need them. is super, super helpful, but then also having the knowledge that everything has a home within your home. So you don’t have to deal with the clutter. Things get put back. So there’s not that constant battle of putting things away. A lot of things taking a lot of time and taking up your space because everything has a home. It’s easy to pick up the few things that Juliet get left out or that are used and not put away, and then just take them back to that place.
So again, that’s a routine that allows you to save time and save money and be able to find the things you need when you are looking for. For them when you want to use them. If all those things are happening. One thing that is obviously also happening is your stress is reduced. You are now in a place where your home is functioning better for your family. Not only does it do all those things I just mentioned, but overall, it’s going to reduce your stress. It’s going to take away that overwhelm and it’s going to relieve you of some of those feelings of constantly being irritated.
Every time you look around the house, the rooms stay clean or the house over. Overall stays cleaner and more picked up and you use less effort to maintain the house, to clean the house when you don’t have to pick up. Before you actually have to do the cleaning that saves you a huge amount of time right there. the truth is when we have piles of things and stacks of things and excess the stuff just out and about all over, whether it’s sitting on counters and tables or piles on the floor, or jammed up on shelves in closets.
And we can’t walk in to the closet space because you can’t even see the floor it’s covered with all of the extras. That clutter is making it so that your environment is [00:06:00] not clean. And even if you’re cleaning and you’re trying to vacuum and dust. I do the basics of cleaning, or maybe you’re trying to deep clean. You’re never getting to all of the areas that dust is accumulating. Your allergies are increasing. There are overall health benefits that happen when you truly declutter and have an organized home. So all in all, it’s a great place to be, to remove the clutter. And then take the steps to organize and make sure that you’ve implemented the routines so that your home stays clutter-free and that the organization can stay there. And that it takes less effort to maintain your home, to clean your house and really to do anything in the home because you have this great system working for you, where the decluttering, the organizing and the routines are all working for you to eliminate some of that effort to re drastically reduce. The amount of decisions you have to make an a day and the things that you have to figure out. Really reducing that stress and giving you that good feeling, that called feeling the place where your home is an area that you want to be in a hole or a house that you feel good being in. You feel good for that.
Your family is there. You can enjoy each other. You can have people over if you wish. And you’ve created this environment that is functioning for your family and making. Things easier rather than adding to the stress and over-complicating and causing more issues, issues that really do not need to be a part of your life. With many of the benefits. A lot of them are well-known most of them, you probably know, you don’t think about on a regular basis, but you know that there are these benefits that come with reducing the clutter in your home and purging these things. So why is it common to still hesitate on ever starting the decluttering projects or ever beginning to go through things, get rid [00:08:00] of things. I kind of think of it. Like If I know I would be stronger and better at these athletic thing is and the sports that I like to play, then I would do things like lift weights because having the strength and having more muscle mass would benefit me and I would have do better. And I would be more athletic. The strength would help me reach those goals but more often than not people don’t. Make the changes it’s like, I don’t want to add the weight trading. I don’t want to add those activities that build the muscle. And the reality of it is. It’s not a priority. If you can’t find a way to get it done that it’s not really a priority. It’s not that important to you. And that situation. I know the benefits. I know the reasons I should be doing these things. I know the end result and how it will enhance my life. It will improve things. It will make things better. it will get me to those results that I want. if I’m choosing not to do that, then it’s really not a priority for me. We could put this into really any area of our home. That was one example. You could come up with any scenario where a change needs to be made and a better result. Would happen if that change was made, what do we want? Something better? The desire is there. But if we’re not making the effort and putting forth the effort to take action and get to those desired results. Then nothing changes. We stay in that place where we are. Y. And so I ask you why, why are we. Making the changes. Why aren’t we putting in the effort? Why do we know the end result? And that’s what we want that desire is there. But we’re not doing it. Think about that. I want to give you a little activity right now, and I’m going to ask you to complete a sentence for me. So the reason I’m doing this is because I want you to dig deeper and go to a more of a personal [00:10:00]level, personalize that desire around having a home that is not messy. Or having a home that stays picked up or having a home where you have eliminated the clutter and it’s more of a clutter-free environment. Think about what your home looks like. Take a few minutes to visualize that. What does it look like? How does it feel to be in each room? How do you feel? What are you gaining by not having clutter and not having access everywhere? Maybe it’s what you can do with this space or with your house. Once the stuff is gone, something that you can’t do right now. Really think about. What you want this home to be decluttered for? Is it who you could have over, or this space that you will have, so you can enjoy. The people together, you can spend time together or enjoy. Different activities that you’ve don’t have space for now. Or sometimes we feel so overwhelmed by all of this stuff. You feel like you can’t sit down and play a game with your kids or engage in an activity because the clutter is really weighing you down. It’s weighing on you all the time. And the stress that you feel is not letting you unwind and relax and participate in some of these activities. You right now are thinking about finding your, why, your reason for wanting to declutter and get organized. Why do you want to do this? Why do you think that this is going to bring you some of the benefits that we were talking about a few minutes ago? Let’s go into this a little bit deeper. So what is the bigger reason you want to do this?
That’s really what we’re trying to get at. What is that big reason that big, why that you feel like it is important to organize your home? So the first thing. That pops into your head right now, or as I’ve been talking. Those are often the big reasons or the pieces of the inner goal that you’re looking [00:12:00] forward to go ahead and finish this sentence for me. I’m going to give you a fill in the blank. The sentence is I want a clutter-free home B cuts. And then after the, because is that fill in the blame part? So again, I want a clutter-free home because, you’re going to think about that. You can say it out loud. You could even write it down. If you’re in a place where that’s available to you or save it in the notes. I want a clutter-free home because I want to have the room to play with my kids and not feel like there is something that I need to be doing all the time that I should be doing something else instead of enjoying this time. Or I want a clutter-free home, uh, because I know my stress will be less and I’ll be a nicer person. I won’t be a grumpy grouch all the time. Or I want to clutter free home because I want a place where I can actually relax and feel good. And not be a complete maniac because my house is making me crazy, whatever that is. I would just kind of making things up, but based on comments at different. Conversations I’ve had what that looks like, but you get to choose and you get to decide, what does this really look like for you? What are the benefits of a clutter-free home? Why do you want your environment to have the clutter removed? So again, that first sentence I want you to fill in the blank for is I want a clutter-free home because. And you fill in that blank at that impart, you think about what is important to you and why do you want this? If you haven’t figured that out, pause and just repeat that kind of over and over until you can really identify. Why do you want that home? That is picked up. What are the benefits that you’re really looking for? And then come back and join us after you pause and go on from here. So then the next thing I want us to do is [00:14:00] to try another one. When my home is decluttered, I will be able to and fill in that like, so that sentence again is when my home is decluttered, I will be able to. And you fill in the blank at the end. What will you be able to do? Does your sentence out? And something like when my home is decluttered, I’ll be able to have friends over again or entertain or enjoy more spontaneous visits from. Friends and family. Where we can really enjoy each other’s company and have fun together. Maybe it’s when my home is decluttered, I’ll be able to not feel so embarrassed or I’ll be able to travel because I won’t have the guilt of all the projects and all of the things. At home that needed to be done that keep me from doing some of these things. Or I’ll be able to do something simple, just like sit down and read a book or watch a movie with my kids without doing 15 other things at the same time and actually spend a time with them or play a game, whatever it looks like to you. You have goals and you have ideas in your mind of why you want your home to be clutter-free. And what does that look like when we take it a step further? What will you be able to do? What does a clutter-free home look like in terms of what it gives to you? What will you be able to do once you spend the time removing the clutter and getting organized?
So that second question was when my home is decluttered, I will be able to. And you fill in that blank again, if you need to pause this, no big deal, pause it, fill in the blank. If you want to save this information. So you could go back to it. That is a great thing to do. And it’s a great reminder to have so that you have these answers front and center. You can use that as almost like a little motivator to get going on some of these projects We know this there’ve been many studies. What are you doing to move yourself towards those benefits? [00:16:00] Towards that. So if you need to pause right now and fill in those sentences, go ahead and do that. And then just pick back up where you left off. When you save the sentences or you take the time to write down your answers, you could do that on paper. You can save it in your phone. You are able to refer back to these as you need to, or as you think about it. And I want to tell you right now, there is a better way. There is an easier way when things are simplified, it, everything is easier. It’s possible to organize your home and have less stuff weighing you down. That’s a very real thing you have to put in the effort. The experiences that you desire are absolutely something that can happen. But you have to say, I’m going to put in the effort and I am actually going to take action and follow through. Let the sentences that you just finished when you filled in the blank of those sentences. Let that part be. What is the most important to you for you to, that could be the reminder to help you get to the other side. That can be that constant reminder that you look at when you feel like I just don’t have time to do clutter. And you’re in that excuse mode, go back to those sentences and think about what that end result is. What the benefits are and what it gives to you, what it allows you to do, if you make the changes and get to that end result. Of course, you know, I have resources, courses, instructions, examples, all kinds of things, all the tools available for you, so that if you follow those plans, you can take the action because the plan is the action. And you follow those. And then you get from this starting point where you are frustrated and irritated and not knowing what to do to that finish point. The Andrew’s soul is waiting for you, but you have to decide it’s time to take action. You have to do the work. And then you get to that finish line sooner. So you get to [00:18:00] decide, is this something that I’m going to keep putting off or am I going to actually do this? And get going on this, is this something that I’m going to commit to? How important is it for you to declutter your home, to remove the clutter and get the benefits of the reduced stress? Save money, save time. Feel better. All of these things, reduce the allergens in your home. Be healthier overall, make it easier to clean and stay picked up. Have a home that is functioning for your family. Ask her herself. Why are you procrastinating? This? What are you waiting for? Do you want to be here a year from now? My guess is that you have been wanting to get rid of the clutter and remove some of this stuff and organize your home more for quite some time. Now. This usually isn’t something that we think about. And then the next day we do it. If you go back and think about when you first remembered thinking this way that I need to get rid of some of this stuff, we have too much stuff. There’s too much clutter in our house. When you go back and you think I really wish I could spend some time and, and find that time and finally get organized. Ask yourself. When were those thoughts first bouncing around in your brain? When do you remember first thinking about that? Or first being irritated that you had too much stuff and there was too much clutter or annoyed by the amounts of stuff that is in your house. Imagine if you started this process of decluttering and getting rid of some of this stuff, when you first started thinking about those things, Are we going back a couple of months, a few years. What is that timeframe for you? If you started the big project of decluttering, then. And once you do clutter, another benefit is your mindset changes around what you’re purchasing and what you’re bringing into your home and allowing yourself to have to maintain and take care of and find a [00:20:00] place to store. So. There’s more benefits in that we talked about, we just touched on the benefits. If you started this project, when you first started thinking that there was too much stuff and you wanted to purge. Then you would already be at the end results. You would already be at the finish line. Or at least you would be significantly closer to it. And you would be working your way through it. So ask yourself right now. Why are you waiting? What are you waiting for to start doing this? And do you still want to be in this place? The exact place you’re in right now? Probably even with additional stuff a year from now. Do you really even want to be in this place six months from now? You don’t have to be where you are right now, but you have to make the changes and commit to the plan to get the things done. And you can do these things. You could move forward. you want to be. In a home with less clutter, you completed the sentences. Go back to the sentences that you completed a few minutes ago. And look at those sentences and ask yourself. Do I want to be here where I am right now, a year from now. Or do I want to be in this place that I’m talking about, that I’m referring to in these sentences? Where do you want to be? That’s the real question. What do you want your home to look like? What do you want it to feel like? How do you want it to function. You get to decide. Do you stay here? Do you take action? Do the work and get to that place that you’re thinking about and dreaming about that desire that you really want, that end result, that you desire. It is up to you. You get to make the choice. So you decide as I finish up this episode, you decided right now, am I taking action? The resources are available, whether it be from me or someone else, the resources are available. What to do is there, if you feel stuck and don’t know where to begin. Click on a link in the podcast [00:22:00] description, sign up for one of my free resources or even a paid course. And then you get to the desire you get to the dreams of the home that you want so that it functions for your family and simplifies everything and makes life easier. go back, revisit your fill in the blank sentences today and think about is today. The day I take action. Or am I going to still be in this place? Annoyed and irritated a homeful of clutter next year.
