Clutter…
What is Clutter?
CLUTTER = a collection of things lying about in an untidy mass.
Clutter is common, it takes up space, consumes our time and energy, increases stress and prevents peacefulness and tranquility. There are many types of clutter but people are usually most familiar with physical clutter.
Physical clutter is something you can see, when someone focuses on decluttering they usually focus on possessions (physical clutter) that can be permanently removed from their environment. Mental and emotional clutter cause just as much (sometimes more) damage and stress as physical clutter. Emotional attachment/issues to items often contribute to physical clutter. These are great resources to learn more about emotional clutter: 4 Types of Emotional Clutter and 6 Types of Clutter and Why to Let Go.
Ultimately, ALL types of clutter steal your most valuable asset, YOUR TIME! Who doesn’t want more time spent with important people in your life doing activities you love?!?! Whether large or small, decluttering your home can have a tremendous impact on your quality of life.
If you are feeling overwhelmed start by eliminating the physical clutter. Small areas or projects are often the best place to begin. Once you feel a sense of accomplishment in one area you will be energized to move on to another. When purging physical clutter follow the suggestions below to make the decision making process as easy as possible.
What is your first decluttering project going to be, where are you going to start?
