(02:01):
Hey, there, welcome to another episode of the intentional edit podcast. We are on episode 39 today. I am excited to have you here. If you have not already joined the new Facebook group that I created just a week or two ago, please head over to your Facebook. Join the group. It’s specifically for the podcast community, where we can have a conversation back and forth. You can ask questions and I can comment on the questions or pictures that you’re submitting. We can just have a discussion back and forth and really get to know each other over there. It’s on Facebook and the group is called declutter organize and create systems to simplify your home in life. You can scroll down on the description of the podcast and there’s a link you can click on head directly over there and then request to join the group. I would love to have you and get to know you better over in the Facebook group.
(02:58):
One of the reasons that I started that group is because I get a lot of DMS on Instagram and moms reaching out they’re at the end of their rope. They feel like they’re about to drop the ball because they have a lot going on. There are a lot of struggles that contribute to this. So of course, busy schedules and a lot of commitments, also clutter in the home for feeling like they’re always having to pick up and invest a lot of time, more time than they want to in household tasks, managing belongings, they have a lot of clutter, but they feel like they do purge. They purge often they’re getting rid of stuff. They’re constantly picking things up, but they’re also constantly taking things to donate or giving things away. There’s really a lack of systems in the house to keep things running smoothly. There are a lot of issues at hand that are causing moms to be overwhelmed and stressed out, not even knowing where to begin or what to do to solve these problems.
(03:56):
I wanna take time today to address these issues and not necessarily with the action steps to solve every single one of those problems in your home, but to tell you how to do that on your own and when to identify, if you need help, if you haven’t tackled these things on your own and, and you haven’t started and stop or only attempted these things for a couple hours or even a couple days and realized that what you’re coming up with is just not sticking. Then go ahead and go back to the other podcast episodes that are specific to what you’re needing help with. Do you need help with decluttering? I have a ton of episodes on that. Do help need help with the organization, the physical organization of material, things in your house and how to organize those. Do you need help with creating systems or figuring out what systems to create?
(04:54):
You can do all of these things on your own. I have podcast episodes for every single one of those topic. If you haven’t tried to do these things, go back, listen to the podcast, episodes, follow them step by step. So many of them are action packed with steps that you can listen to an episode, walk away and implement in your own home. If you follow those steps, you can make it happen. If you’re a person that tried to get organized, you feel like you’ve read the books. You’ve scrolled social media, you have a million Pinterest boards for what you want things to look like, but it’s not happening for you. And you’ve tried, but you can’t follow through. For some reason, there’s a lack of follow through after a few hours and you just can’t stick with these things. That’s when it might be time to get an accountability partner or grab a coaching session with me or someone like me.
(05:49):
If you feel like you try to get organized, but it never sticks for long. You’re ready to remove the excess amounts of clutter from your home. Or you wanna reduce stress caused by your home and the responsibilities of life. Then grab a coaching session with me. Some other ways to tell if you’re ready for this are you want to enjoy more and Stressless and you wish there was a way to tackle house chores, feel less overwhelmed. You wanna know the secrets of a professional organizer and how they organize things to last. You’re ready to clear the clutter, create systems and simplify. Let’s make it all happen. Sometimes I do coaching sessions with clients and we, we do one session. We come up with a plan and you see exactly what I on these calls. And then you are able to mimic that and repeat the process.
(06:42):
That would be my ideal goal. You can repeat the process on your own and continue on and keep doing these things. You can create systems using the same things that I do for your home, so that you can simplify and you can have routines and systems, every area in your house that needs them. Other are times when I work with clients on these coaching calls, they would prefer to have someone more like a life coach that they can check in with on a regular basis. Even though they leave a coaching session capable of following a system, creating new systems, they leave with a purging plan and they can use that purging plan for every single room of the house. They want more accountability. So they book follow up coaching sessions with me on a routine basis. There is no right or wrong to that. It’s just whatever you prefer, what fits your personality and the things that you like best. And we can work around that and make it work for you so that you have the most success.
(07:44):
I know what it feels like when it seems like there’s never enough time in the day, and you’re wondering how you’re gonna get it all done. To scroll through social media, looking for ideas and inspiration. You wanna find all the answers there only to find that it wastes more time and you’re even for they’re behind the journey. Isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it. And finding simple solutions for the day to day, make it possible for you to enjoy more and stress less. To finally get rid of the overwhelmed feeling. The reason I offer these one-on-one coaching calls is to assist you with decluttering and organizing and to create customized systems for your home and family. It gives you the ability to create the systems, but in the coaching calls, we really work on customizing, whatever it is. If you need a purging plan to figure out how to organize physical belongings or customize systems, or even to manage told tasks and chores, get your schedule and calendar aligned so that we can see where you have time to do the things that need to be done without feeling so overwhelmed.
(08:51):
Imagine if you had systems in place that allow for more time spent together as a family, less nagging, and a home that stays picked up and organized. If you feel like you’re ready for clutter free home systems that work for your family and more time for things that you wanna be doing, this is a good option for you. And I would be happy to book a coaching session with you and work together to cut some nice plans that work for your home and family. When I bring up coaching on the podcast, which really isn’t often, I get a lot of DMS with questions about coaching and how these coaching calls work. What do we do? What do they look like? What do you need to do? I took a handful of them that have come in recently, and I wanna answer them on the podcast so that if you are wanting accountability and you are wanting truly customized plan systems, routines, organization for your home and your life, then these questions are probably going to help you figure out if a coaching call is right for you.
(09:54):
The first question that I want to answer today is I think I know how to organize, but once I start, I realize I don’t really know what I’m doing and end up keeping more than I should and never really get organized. Just to do the process over in a few months, would a coaching session help with this? Yes. The answer to this one is yes, a coaching would help because in coaching sessions, if the big problem that you want to go over and focus on during that session is purging and organizing, then that’s what we focus on. We identify the cause of your overwhelm and go from there in this particular situation, this person is saying that they start the organizing process and they’re constantly getting rid of things, but they obviously aren’t doing it right because in a couple months they are doing the exact same thing over and over.
(10:47):
And nothing really stays organized. The reason a coaching session is perfect for this scenario is because I teach you the purging plan. I give you Pering plan that I actually use with clients as a professional home organizer. It’s the same purging plan that I give to my friends and family when they’re struggling and that I use the purging plan will make it so that you can get rid of things. And I also give you an organizing cheat sheet. So it’s a step by step guide that you follow to organize whatever room that she was referring to. In this question, you can use those things for that. But once I walk you through the process, we dial it in for that particular room. You can go on and use it with every single room in your home. The other thing is with organizing the Perian plan and the organizing cheat sheet, we, you to you to a place where you are able to finally organize, and you never wanna organize anything that you can get rid of.
(11:46):
If you can eliminate it first, it makes everything easier. Those two things are what this person needs. And we would go over that in a coaching call. That would be a perfect scenario for a coaching session. The next question that I want to answer today is what happens in a coaching session. I want your help, but I’ve never had a coaching session and don’t know what to expect once. You’ve determined that this is what you wanna do in you head over to intentional edit.com, click on the coaching tab. At the top of the page, you can read all about coaching sessions there, how they work, what to expect, what we do. And there’s a few places where you can click and it will take you over to a calendar page where you can book directly there. Once you are ready to book you pick a to time that is available on the calendar page.
(12:36):
And you answer a couple questions so that we can really dial in the session and not waste any time because I gather the questions for you. Don’t overthink it. Whatever comes to mind first, whatever pops into your mind. When you read the question, that’s what I want you to put down there. Doesn’t have to be complete sentences. It can be bullets. They’re short and sweet answers. Once you do that, it sends the questions to me. Once you’ve submitted them, we are ready to go on the actual coaching call. I call you over zoom. If you are not comfortable with a video, then we just do it over audio. We don’t have to share greens, but we can. If you would prefer that it’s your decision a hundred percent. I’m good with it. Either way on the call, we identify your biggest struggle and come up with a solution.
(13:26):
I come up with simple solutions that you can use in your life and that you apply to your problem to solve the problem in your home. Once the call is over, I send you a copy of the coaching session so that you can have that and refer back to it in the email with that, I include different things like the purging plan, the organizing cheat sheet that I just mentioned, and there will be a few other documents in there that you can follow with the specific plans we came up that are customized to your home and your life and your family to get things dialed in for you so that you can have more time for things that you actually want to be doing. Another question is, do you need to see the rooms that are a disaster to be able to teach me how to organize them and the answer to is no, I don’t have to see the room.
(14:17):
You don’t have to send me pictures. I personally love before and after pictures. And I encourage you to take a picture if organizing a physical space is one of your goals. And one of the problems that you’re having, I strongly advise that you take a picture of the before, before you say, or to do anything. And once you’ve gone through the process and you have used the solution that we came up with on the call for you finished with it and its entirety. Then I want you to take a picture and compare the two. You don’t have to share them with me. You don’t have to post them anywhere or show anybody, but for your own accomplishment and to really see your success. I think before and after pictures of a space that needs to be organized. And that has a lot of clutter is a huge benefit.
(15:06):
Yes, take a before and after picture, but I don’t need to see the space. If we’re on a zoom video call, you do not have to show me the space. I don’t need to see it. If you want me to see it, I can, but I’m gonna give you the same plan, whether I see the space or not. Because the systems that I use are tried and true. They’ve worked in many, many homes for many, many families. I know that they will work for you. All you have, have to do is follow the plan and you will have success with it. Here is another question. I enjoy your podcast because they really are my life. I’m overwhelmed and don’t know where to begin. How can a coaching session help me if I don’t even know what the problems are just that I’m overwhelmed. And at my wits end with the day to day, that is a great question.
(15:53):
And I feel like a lot of people can relate to that. And we feel the same things. When there are things in our homes that are overwhelming to us and schedules, commitments, clutter, how to clean, how to maintain a house. Kids constantly nagging the kids is needing you all the time. Trying to be a, a good spouse, hold on a job. Everything that goes into this stage of life, it’s a lot and it can be very overwhelming. So I understand why you’re stressed out and you feel overwhelmed. You feel like you’re at your wits end with the day to day. And the at is where a coaching session can help you because we identify the problem. And if there’s more than one problem, we identify the biggest problem where you can get the biggest bang for your buck. And we start with that for every person, it will be different.
(16:47):
It might be organization. It might be systems might be creating those routines or a lit eating physical clutter. It just depends on your individual situation at home and what you want life to look like, where you’re trying to get to what your goals are. The questions that you answer when you book the session and what we talk about the first few minutes of the coaching call, really determine where we go and what we figure out is the number one problem. Sometimes in a coaching session, we identify a plan for a couple problems. It just depends what we’re tackling and the details that go into it. It’s all individualized. I try to give you the most for the time and make every minute of our calls together count. And it looks like we have time for one more question. So the last question that I’m going to answer today is a mom in my daughter’s preschool class has worked with you and told me about a coaching call.
(17:46):
She had, I need one too. How do I book the session? And what do I do to prepare? I’m ready to get my life in order. And I know I need your help. I get a lot of referrals for coaching clients from parents. When moms figure out that a coaching call or a few coaching calls is what they need to simplify and go in the, where they want to go with organizing their home and life and simplifying everything. They, uh, refer me to their friends, or like in this situation, people at their school, I wish I knew who that was so I could reach out and say, thank you. But I appreciate this coming in, letting you know about this opportunity, how you book a session. If so, E go to intentional edit.com, click on the coaching page. There is a tab@thetopofintentionaledit.com that says coaching.
(18:37):
You can scroll down. There is all kinds of information about coaching on that page. There are many links you can click on. I’m ready to book a session or schedule it here. Or the calendar signup link, click on one of those. It will take you to the calendar where you can see my availability, and then you schedule your session based on the availability. And when we can get together, you answer the questions. You follow what it says. You make a payment and you are done. It’s booked gives you everything that you need to know on that page. And we will be scheduled to work together and get going on your simplified life.
(19:18):
The first step to getting what you want is having the courage to get rid of what you don’t. If you’re ready to reduce your stress by decluttering your home and learning to implement simple routines, you’re in the right place. During your coaching sessions, we’ll identify the cause of your overwhelm and build customized routines and a purging plan for your home and family. I am happy to have you here, and I am excited to help you get to where you wanna go with a simplified home in life. The coaching sessions work by being on zoom together. It’s a one-on-one coaching session. The goal is to maximize our time together. We identify the biggest struggles and come up with solutions that will simplify your home so that you have more time to spend with your favorite people. When you leave the session, you will have an action plan that can be implemented right away, decluttering, organizing time management, home routines and systems, and daily and weekly schedules are all common topics for coaching calls.
(20:14):
Of course, we don’t get to all of those in one session, but we start with your biggest struggle and come up with a plan from there. It’s time for you to take your home from chaotic to composed in the overwhelm and start to feel good in your home. My mission is to help busy over while moms find solutions that simplify home and daily life. I know that bringing simplicity to your life results in less time, stress and more time spending doing the things that you enjoy with the people that you wanna be spending time with.
