Earlier this year I began reading books and articles, and doing some light research on the Keto diet and lifestyle.  At first it seemed difficult but the more I looked into it I realized it wasn’t that different from how I already ate.  I’ve always tried to eat real food over processed foods, I purchase the beef we eat from high quality pasture raised farms or consume wild/hunted meat and limit my carbs.  The one thing I wasn’t monitoring was the amount of fat I was consuming.  Although avocados are one of my top 5 favorite foods, if I was going to switch to a Keto diet I would have to consume many more grams of fat per day than I was currently getting.   I continued to research, gathered some Keto friendly recipes and decided to give it a try.  keto basicsAfter 10 days I was feeling great, the two biggest things I noticed were that I was rarely hungry and that I had more energy.  I didn’t experience the symptoms of “Keto Flu” or some of the negative side effects that people report but I have a feeling that’s because I wasn’t eating that different from my regular diet.

I knew that I wanted to continue but had to incorporate these recipes into my meal planning to make it work for my family.  I have a detailed post on how to meal plan every 2 weeks here.  Yes, I plan 11 dinners for 2 weeks at a time and go to the grocery every other week.  My meal planning strategy saves time and $ and reduces stress.  I used this plan, that I have been using for a few years, and experimented with recipes to make a Keto Friendly Meal Plan.

Over the next two months I will be sharing all 8 weeks of my Keto dinner recipes, including the meal plan and grocery list.  It’s broken down into weeks 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6 and 7 & 8.  The meal plan focuses on 11 dinner recipes for every 2 weeks and gives plenty of ideas for breakfast, lunch and snacks.  Some of the recipes are already on the blog and the others will be shared along the way.  If you have been wanting to jump on the Keto train but don’t know where to begin I suggest checking out the books I have listed below and consider following my dinner recipe meal planning guide to make it as easy as possible for you.
